NEW Northside Created TEA Unique ID Search Website

TEA Unique ID Search

All NISD Staff can login to check on the status of a TEA Unique ID and whether it has been assigned.

Several online instructional programs associated with TEA have a required field for a TEA Unique ID. Before student and/or teacher account can be created for these programs, a Unique ID must be assigned to the student and/or teacher and be available for the individual uploads to these programs.

If a student or teacher is missing an account to one of these online instructional programs, the most common reason is because a Unique ID has not yet been assigned to them. The purpose of this web site is to give you access in determining if a Unique ID has been assigned or not to a student and/or teacher who is missing an account.

For students, please check the date the Unique ID was assigned. If you see the Unique ID was recently assigned, please allow 2 full days for the student's account to appear in the system in question.

If a student or staff Unique ID is missing, there are many reasons this may be the case. Human Resources and the PEIMS staff are working to get all staff and students assigned a Unique ID. Check this website frequently for updates.

Online Instructional Programs Requiring the Unique ID:

#nisdengange Google Apps for Education and Students

#nisdengage Google Apps for Education and Students

shared with Elementary C&I large group on Monday, September 8, 2014

Google Apps for Education (GAFE) and students is coming soon!

The GO LIVE date has been set for October 6, 2014.

I wanted to share a bit of information with you on this topic...also to continue the dialog as we dive into all of the awesomeness this opens up for instructional opportunities and learning!

The plan at the elementary level is to integrate exposure for students K-5 to GAFE (Email and Drive) through the ECT rotation lab. This will not happen immediately. We will be working with the ECT group to get them trained and their curriculum updated to include GAFE components. Again, the intention isn't that students will know all of the "ins and outs of GAFE, the teach piece will be ongoing and will include multiple staff members:

Technology Support Specialist - TSS (campus-based, 2 campus split at elementary) - will support teachers and staff with GAFE basics

Elementary Computer Technologist (ECT) (campus-based - facilitate lessons in the rotation lab providing exposure for students K-5 to GAFE (Email and Drive)...this plan will develop over time as we prepare the ECTs and modify their current curriculum to include GAFE

Campus Instructional Technologist (campus-based, 2 campus split at elementary) and Academic Technology Coach (district-staff, 6-7 campus split at elementary) - will support teachers and staff with integrating GAFE and students, how it can look in the classroom, what are the possibilities with students, best practice with students, etc.

As you can see, GAFE is definately going to be supported via a team effort!

Google Classroom will also be an EXTREMELY helpful tool to teachers as we move forward with using Google Apps for Education in the Classroom. Check out this short video overview!

Surge Protector Recall Info

November 14, 2013

Surge Protector Recall Info

researched, written up, and shared by Stacy Bergman...thank you Stacy!

CIT's there have been some questions on how to handle the surge protector recall if you want to submit your own claim so that your campus gets the replacement surge protectors rather than buying them.

Here are the steps :)

1. Go to http://recall.apc.com/en and scroll down to submit a claim.

2. I did this on my ipad and it was super easy. You fill out your info (school name, address etc.) and then you have to select the model of the surge protector from the list and type in the serial info. You also have to include a picture of the bar code - on the iPad it was super easy because when I had to choose the file one choice was my camera and I snapped a picture and accepted it. ( Of course you could use a camera or may be an Ipod touch). The website will let you add 10 surge protectors on one request -- this is nice because I only had to retype my school info twice.

3. After you submit you will get an email saying APC is processing your request. The next day I got an email saying the claim had been accepted and the new surge protectors should arrive in 12 weeks. I let my bookkeeper know so she wouldn't wonder who had ordered them :)

4. The APC website says to dispose of the old surge protectors properly. For NISD that means you box up the surge protectors and clearly label them that they are recalled and have all ready been submitted for replacement (see label that you can attach to the boxes)

5. If you have five boxes or less, just put the boxes in the Pony pick up area of your campus and the Pony service will pick them up. If you have more than 5 boxes, email Jason Bandy and he will schedule a pick up.
