Forgot your CMS password?

If you have forgotten your CMS password, click the "Forget Your Password" link at the bottom of the login screen. When it asks you to enter your e-mail address - enter it with your e-number, not your name - i.e. e123456@nisd.net This is the default format CMS uses.  If you enter your name, it doesn't always work... New teachers: CMS logins and passwords coming to you very soon (training too)...

Personal student laptops allowed on campus

Starting this school year, all high school students will be able to bring their own personal laptops to school and connect to the District's wireless Internet network. Please note that it will be the discretion of each teacher whether or not to allow the use of laptops in their classrooms.  Laptop use is NOT required - student's don't HAVE to use them if it is NOT needed in class. The district high school CITs have developed a list of suggestions for laptop usage, classroom rules and curriculum ideas.  Download the suggestions here: Student-Laptops-Tips[1] Again, the use of this technology is encouraged, but not required.

Individual student logins!

Good news! NISD has instituted individual logins for all secondary students. This means greater security in all computer situations, and should eliminate the issues of copying and erasing files. Students will have to log in with their ID# (with an "s" - i.e. s123456), with the standard 4x4 password (first four letters of last name, last four of social security or student number) However, they will not be able to access the system until their AUP has been turned in and entered into the system.  So, please be sure to turn in all signed AUP forms ASAP! More info to follow...

Web Authentication

...or how to get to some sites that are blocked for students... With our new internet filtering policy, many more sites are blocked from students this year. However, teacher filtering is much less restrictive this year. So, how do you get access to those other sites? First, type in the url as you normally would (i.e. www.cnn.com/video/, etc.) If you see the "blocked" screen, click on "Click here" web-auth-1d.jpg

The web authentication ID window will now pop up. Enter your e-number and your network/gradebook password:

web-auth-2b.jpg

Finally, the Authenticator window will appear - DO NOT close this window (or you won't be able to get to your sites). Just minimize it and you're off and running! web-auth-3.jpg

Reminder – LOG OFF, not shut down!

Now that we are all Active Directory, it is very important that we all LOG OFF at the end of the day. Please do not shut your computer completely down. To log off, simply click Start > Shut Down > Log off e123456 (your e-number) This is important because there are updates "pushed" to our computers around 6:00 every evening. Computers are automatically shut down at 8:00 pm (unless you cancel it) and 11:00 pm every night. Any questions, add a comment here...
